How do you reply when someone says “tell me a little bit about yourself”?  Do you find it easy to give an in a nutshell answer?  I don’t.  On the outside, I’m simply Blake.  On the inside, I’m just as complicated as the next person.

In the tiniest nutshell, I’m a daughter, a sister, a wife, and a mom.  Of all the things that define me, I feel those are the most important.  As I embark on this journey to broaden my horizons, I hope to provide posts that inspire laughter, conversation, and maybe even a good food crave (coffee, chocolate or cocktails anyone?).  So, here’s to continuing to evolve and grow out here in the ether!

  1. Hi Blake I saw you on Twitter when the CF foundation tweeted the news about the new drug. My brother and his wife have a 1 year old with CF and they have a new baby coming, who also appears to have CF.
It’s been such a terrifying and sad thing to come to grips with. i blog about my nieces sometimes and I’m following the CF foundation, hoping for a cure.
I’m also building a little cabin at the beach, so my nieces can swim in the ocean as much as possible. I have read that it helps.
Thanks for writing about your brother.

  2. Katy,

Thank you so much for reaching out! My heart goes out to your brother, sister-in-law, you and the rest of your family. I want you to know that there is every reason to be hopeful that we WILL see a cure. CF has been a part of my life for almost as long as I can remember. I have witnessed the evolution of care. Miracles are happening every day! Especially after today’s big news of the FDA’s approval of Kalydeco, we have every reason to believe that the cure and controls are within our grasp. Thanks again and lets keep in touch!

Also – yes, that salty ocean air helps. It was that discovery that lead to the development of hypertonic saline!

Hi Blake, I am a high school friend of your parents. I learned of your site through the mailing regarding the yearly walk and I have followed Roo’s Crew for several years. I was so inspired by your style and personal reflection you added to the different areas I read. What a talent you have been given and I am so proud you are using it to share with others. The pictures of you and Andy were so precious. The two of you made your parents so proud. Their beautiful smiles light up their faces as they speak about their children and grandchildren. Thank you for creating this site for those of us who will enjoy your gift.

    • Kathy,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment. Your kind words and faithful support of Roo’s Crew are appreciated more than I can say! Blogging is still very new to me and is, like many other things, something I hope I’ll get better at with time.

Thanks so much for reading and I hope y’all have fun at this year’s “Bash”!

  4. Wait, what? I’ve been stalking you for months now. Why was I not following your blog? I don’t understand me. :/
But I’m here now! Sorry for the delay.

LOL. I’ve been so neglectful of my poor little blog. There was little to no way for you to know it exists! 😉 Don’t know how *I* wasn’t already following *yours*! 😉

      • Well, to be fair, you don’t profess yourself a stalker, so…
and I’m always surprised when people follow my blog, anyhow.
