Book Hungry Review: About That Night

About That Night

Though Rylann Pierce tried to fight the sparks she felt for billionaire heir Kyle Rhodes the night they met, their sizzling chemistry was undeniable. But after being stood up on their first date, Rylann never expected to see him again. So when she finds herself face-to-face with Kyle in a courthouse nine years later, she’s stunned. More troubling to the beautiful assistant U.S. attorney is that she’s still wildly attracted to him.

Just released from prison, Kyle Rhodes isn’t thrilled to be the star witness in a high-profile criminal case—but when Rylann comes knocking at his door, he finds she may be the one lawyer he can’t say no to. Still as gorgeous and sharp-tongued as ever, she lays down the law: she doesn’t mix business with pleasure. But Kyle won’t give up on something he wants—and what he wants is the one woman he’s never forgotten. . .

Kelly’s selection for June was ABOUT THAT NIGHT by Julie James. My reading diet occasionally includes contemporary romance, but I hadn’t had a dose in a while. And after GONE GIRL, I was ready for a heaping platter of light and easy. I’d expected a typical girl meets boy–and would’ve been fine with that–but what I got was even better!

Yes, Rylann and Kyle are young, attractive, and wealthy—she’s an attorney and he’s a billionaire’s son—but they’re also intelligent, witty, and grounded. What’s truly refreshing is that they overcome hurdles by using…wait for it…open and honest communication skills! Novel idea, eh? Er, no pun intended.

There are many other things I enjoyed about this story. My Book Hungry gal pals, Patty and Abby, did a wonderful job of covering them in their reviews, so please click their names and get the scoop!

Thanks, Kelly, for introducing me to the world of Julie James. Learning this is actually book three in a series was an extra treat. The others are now firmly placed on my ever-growing TBR list and I’m going to head straight for one of them the next time I need a light, smart, and sexy read.
